The last set of the photoshoot session at Rice University.
Lately I realized that I really like black & white portrait shot. Sometime color can be busy and distracting, B/W eliminate most of it. Getting the tone right in B/W require some skills, which is another thing added to the list of things I need to learn in photography.
This is CL. I wish I have more good shots of her but things didn't always turn out the way I expect. It's all in B/W, just want to try and see. What do you think?
I have never been to a photo shoot session. To gather with a bunch of photographers to shoot photos and sharing skills in the process is definitely something I would like to do.
Lucky for me I was invited to a photo shoot at Rice University by some friends last Sunday. A few friends volunteer to be our models. I really have to say bravo to the girls, bearing the heat and humidity of Houston's summer, they still manage to smile and post for us.
I definitely learn a lot from the experience. Received many useful pointers from one of the pro in the group too.
I have been busy with works lately so I rarely have time to post process all the shots yet. Here's the set of ST for now. As always, constructive criticism is always welcome and needed since this is my first set of portrait shots.

Sisters + magazine + cookbook + free time + the urge to experiment some new dessert = chocolate covered goodies + a very happy man(me)!
Very very good equation! I just hope it happen more often!
Here's what Faye and FY made last week.
Chocolate covered ladies finger with frosting in between and topped with walnut. Sweet and yummy!
"Little Dippers" from Every Day with Rachel Ray Magazine. That's vanilla ice cream with fresh strawberry chunk in the middle. The top is macadamia nuts and the bottom is vanilla wafer. Combination of texture and flavor = amazingly delicious dessert.

I'm always fascinated by aviation photography, most probably fueled by my love for airplanes and fighter jet.
My passion for these amazing flying machines was introduced by my god parents when I visit them in Taiwan long long time ago. I was about 4' tall at that time maybe even shorter. My god father like to bring my younger brother and I to some bookstores, he like to read, a good habit he told us. There's where I found some colorful books with tons of amazing pictures of fighter jets. From then on I have collected many many books of jets and commercial airline. Admiring their beauty and studying their specification and capability has became a big hobby.
Though my passion for airplanes has kind of degraded a little over the years, mainly because I have found many other hobbies I like too, admiring airplanes is still my favorite.
These shots were taken in Intercontinental Airport Houston (IAH). I can't wait for the airshow this October, it'll be my first airshow with a DSLR, Oooo..., goose bump!
Embraer ERJ145. A regional jet produced by an aeronautical firm in Brazil.
A British Airways' Boeing 777. A twin engines jumbo jet that has the capacity and range as much as the 747.

When Zoe was living with us, she and Faye like to get busy in the kitchen to make some awesome desserts. They are always trying some new recipe or whatever good recipe they could find online.
Since Zoe left, no dessert has came out of our kitchen, not until yesterday. I was so excited when I see Faye and FY got out the mixer and start mixing some dough. It's cookie time! Jumbo cookie that is, with chocolate chips.
The cookies are soft, chewy, and buttery. Warm it up a little with the toaster oven and man, I can't even describe the sensation in my mouth.

I forgot to post these pictures after my last post so here it is, San Antonio's River Walk during the day.
The colorful umbrella of River Walk.
A typical scene on River Walk: restaurants, peoples, ducks, and tour boats(lots of them).
A more quiet stretch.
Shots taken from our room.
