A little bit of everything through the lens.

4.5 Going On 5 (21)

Monday, May 11, 2009 by , under ,

"I am four and a half years old and I will be five in 3 days." Janine whisper into my ear last Friday. Is it the anticipation to grow up quickly so every half years matter? I guess so but it amuses me every time I hear it.

For Janine's 5th birthday, LK and JP host a small party at Little Gym for her and her little friends. And I'm honour to be asked to photograph the party. I did but I wish I could do a better job. To do that, I will need another camera body and some new lenses...hehehe...just any excuse will do...

Birthday Girl
That's the birthday girl getting ready to start.

Instruction
"You're not supposed to go there, you're supposed to...yada yada yada."

Waiting
"When can we start playing?"

Balance
"Oh yeah, I can do this!"

Inflatable
They were told to sit in the middle of the inflatable bouncer as it's filling up with air. Seems kinda fun, I want to be a kid again. Oh wait, I already am, says my wife.

Run Benjamin, Run!
Run Benjamin, Run!

Bounce
Playful brother and sister.

Deflate!
The SMILE!

Happy Princess
"Okay, now I have time for you to take a photo of me!"

Candle
"I have 5 candles!"

Laugh
Laugh.

More Laugh
And more laugh, good time, good time...

Colin, I'm very impressed, all these photos are just awesome. All these kids sure will remember you this uncle when they grown up, because you give them good childhood memory..
Good job and well done, I like all these photos so much. Too bad, you are too far, otherwise I could ask you to take photos for my kids when they have birthday party, hahaha.

Bakeling - Ya, we can't go back to being a child again but we can enjoy life now!

温馨小屋 - Kids smile are just priceless, their smiles will make me smile everytime.

Sonia - Thank you for your compliments! I thought I didn't do so well but reading Bakeling, 温馨小屋, and your comments give me a little confidence, ha! If the timing is right, it will be my pleasure to capture some photos of your kids for you too! But then you will have to make us some of your famous nasi lemak!

Great job! Makes me feel want to be a child again.

I suppose taking children portraits is enjoyable as you capture their true and honest gestures. A rewarding experience, don't you agree?

twister - Thank you and I will!

jdexign - I love taking children portraits, they are so carefree and cute, usually the results are pretty good. Yes, you're right, it's a very rewarding experience!

They are really good pictures, colin! Are there any tips for good potrait photos like that? Oh yes, are Janine and Ben both your kids?

Colin Woon on May 13, 2009 at 8:53 PM

米亚 - Tips?! Hmmm...fire away, take as many photos as you can, some photos will turn out right...hehehe... Oh, another thing, try to anticipate their move and get ready for it.

Errr...no...Janine and Benjamin are not our kids, they're our friends' kids. :)

You don't need a new camera body lah, you are doing a great job! I wish I am equipped with enough of gadgets to do this too... sigh, still a long way to go. Meanwhile, am eyeing on the new Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 G... Man, it's so expensive!!
Little Gym, a lot of fun, but they don't have it here. Both Tisha and I enjoyed the 45mins fun session in Bangkok.

Colin Woon on May 13, 2009 at 9:59 PM

HK - Yes, I do need a new camera body...hehehe...

Is the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G equivalent to Canon "L" high end lens? If so, that's much cheaper than Canon, get it! What does "G" stand for anyway, "Greatness"? Hahaha...

Yeah, I read about Little Gym on your blog when you guys were living in Bangkok. Finally, I got the chance to see it! You should think about getting a franchise in Malaysia.
